Himmarshee Public House

Ideal for: Those that may have aged out of the fraternity/sorority which is typical of the crowd that frequents downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Cost: Moderate

Offerings: pub grub, beer, cocktails

Experience: In order to keep in the spirit of America’s version of St. Patrick’s Day, I (Mel) wanted to celebrate the day by drinking.  My friends and I went into this bar/restaurant attempting to find some place to sit.  We went to the front, to have the hostess brush past us without a greeting or any acknowledgement at all. We promptly decided to find our own table.
We found a table that did not have a reserved placard on it and sat down. The waiter stopped by the table to ask if we sat ourselves or were seated by the hostess.  I stated that we tried to have the hostess seat us, but she straight up ignored us.  He apologized and went to the hostess to make sure that we could sit there. The hostess came up to us to say that we couldn’t sit there because the table was reserved.  She said that we could go back up front a a seat could be found for us.  We made it known that we had tried.  She apologized. So we decided to sit by the bar and not go back to the hostess.  As we were going to plop down elsewhere, the waiter reappeared and said he was going to offer us seats over where we had chosen to sit because the other table was reserved.

On the recommendation of the waiter, instead of a plain cider, I had a cider with a shot of fireball.  I would definitely say that was a good call.  The people watching was decent due to the celebrations. Our waiter continued to be super helpful and even posed for a picture with us. I may go back just for the ladies’ night.
