Hi-Tunes Karaoke

For Mel’s b-day, we checked out a local Korean style karaoke venue, called Hi Tunes Karaoke.  We had too much tequila and too much fun! Check out Mel’s experience below!

Ideal for: groups that enjoy singing

Cost: $20 – $50 per hr based on group size

Experience:  I do not fancy singing in a big room filled with talented randoms.  I do not need that kind of pressure. I prefer to shame myself in a small room of people that I may possibly know that is why I love Asian-style karaoke rooms.

I have tried some of the other karaoke places that offer private rooms in the past.  I wanted to give Hi-tunes a shot due to the positive reviews. What better day than my birthday?

A medium room for 10 people is $30 per hr which is not bad, if everyone pitches in to pay for it.  You can bring your own drinks (alcoholic and non) and food for no additional cost.

We went on a Thursday from 8pm -11pm. The room was noticeably cleaner than some other private-room, karaoke joints in the area. The room had two screens, two wireless mics, maracas, tambourines, and song books in Korean and English. We were given a quick tutorial on how to operate the Korean remote.  The last time the English book had been updated had been either 2013 or 2014 which is totally fine. After we had our fun, we were asked to pay up.

Seating: lounge style

Pros: B.Y.O.B., clean, open until 5a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays

Cons: can be pricey if everyone does not chip in, limited selection of English songs
